Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

21 Sep

Our chapter participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Sunday, September 18th. It was an early morning for all of us but we all were ready to support this amazing organization. We raised $180 as a chapter for breast cancer research and Susan G. Komen. It was a 5K walk or run through downtown Columbia and back to Mizzou Stadium. Our members were able to walk around the Mizzou football field when ending the race. It was a refreshing and marvelous day for the Sigma’

Senior Night!!

26 Apr

Last night we celebrated all of our wonderful seniors!!

It was a very emotional and bittersweet time for all of us, even those not graduating. Everyone was in tears the whole time and the room was full of laughter. We reminisced on great memories, hilarious stories, and each underclassmen had the chance to tell the 7 seniors how they impacted their lives and what they mean to them.

The overall consensus from everyone is that Brittany is strong beyond belief, Abby is a ball of sunshine all the time, Sam is always there for you no matter what, Lauren brings everyone in Sigma together, Courtney is one of the greatest friends you can have, Jessica can always put a smile on your face, and Carrie has so much more to offer than just her beauty.

A big thanks goes out to our wonderful VP, Carey. Without her, our senior night wouldn’t have been possible so thank you. It means so much to each one of us seniors.

And on behalf of the graduating seniors, I just want to take the time to thank every single one of our sisters! These last 3-4 years for us have been some of the best of our lives. Each one of us is walking away with so many memories that are irreplaceable. Each sister holds a special place in our heart and no matter how far away we move or where we go, we will always be sisters forever. We love you all so much!

Sigma Formal

21 Apr

Last night our chapter had our spring formal and let me say it was so much FUN!  We had an amazingly nice Mo-X driver, an awesome venue, and an even better DJ!! We really lucked out since we had planned it on such short notice but we couldn’t have asked for anything better.

We held our formal downtown at the Uppercrust and it was perfect for us.  It was small and intimate and really laid back.  We had bite-size desserts, decorations and good music.

Bug DJ’d for us and as usual she did an amazing job.  We had a lot of requests for her, anything from Montell Jordan’s “This is How We Do It” to Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer.” No matter what she always made our song requests happen and in typical Sigma fashion we owned the dance floor the entire night. Our girls hardly spent any time sitting.  We even had a dance off between Bug and Lauren’s boyfriend Jacob.

Abby brought back the Sigma tradition of quizzing our dates and honoring the one guy who knows the most about Sigma.  Although we had some collective cheating amongst the guys we crowned Brett, Courtney’s date, as Mr. Sigma 2011.

All in all our formal was perfect. Not one of us didn’t enjoy ourselves and it was a great way to celebrate all our hard work and the end the school year!

Founder’s Day!

20 Apr

Today our chapter is celebrating 113 years of lifelong friendships and sisterhood!! In honor of Founder’s Day we wore our badge attire and Tri-Sigma badges proudly.

On another note tonight our chapter gets to celebrate all the hard work our past and presents officers and members have put into making our sorority a better organization day after day.  It’s been a lot of hard work and patience but it has finally paid off.  Tonight we get to celebrate all that hard work and the end of the year with a FORMAL!
